QinetiQ’s new Sentry robot was demonstrated at this year’s DSEi this robot’s cool design and speed capabilities (up to 50 knots) warrants placement in the “Just Plain Cool” category but this robot has some very important jobs.
Sentry’s stealthy. It’s designed with the familiar beveled edges and sloping faces. That combined with its super-low profile and small size (3.5M) makes it hard to see by radar.
It’s built on a jetski platform which means it gains the benefits and durability of a very nimble water jet propulsion system.
Sentry is modular. It can support various kinds of payload, can be controlled via PC, and can be autonomous. The range between the PC and the robot can be as far as 16 nautical miles.
