Here’s what happened this week:
On 12/04/2012 (Tuesday) we shed light on Que Innovation’s Koule smartball, designed to help child development and to specifically help autistic child development. Koule’s Indiegogo campaign is here. Also that day, Iran claimed to have downed a U.S. drone; we covered robots that spoon-feed the elderly; Jason Giles cooked up a cool robot video, and we kicked off a thread about armed autonomous robots (a.k.a. “Killer Robots.”)
On 12/05/2012 (Wednesday) Autom, the personal weight-loss robot, was featured with some quotes from the developer Dr. Cory Kidd, and CTO Bill McCord. The Indiegogo campaign is here. GE made me nostalgic; Liquid Robotics set a world record; the Killer Robots discussion continued, and io9 shared some cool art inspired by Mars Curiosity.
On 12/06/2012 (Thursday) we started our new series on Transhumanism. We also tracked back a bit and covered the NOAA using a wave glider to gather hurricane information; Thomas Freundlich has a new dance show with robotics, and we wondered if robots will begin taking over low-wage jobs.
On 12/07/2012 (Friday) we posted an addition to the Killer Robot thread; Australia announced a new nanotech strategy; linguist Noam Chomsky discussed Artificial Intelligence; I would have preferred this to a “real” Transformers toy; and have a little Onion in your smoothie?
See y’all next week.
