I came across this clip of UK activists dousing a Tesla Optimus robot with liquid latex–some kind of protest against oil, I guess.
The scene unfolded quickly. Activists approached the robot, poured the stuff, and made their point–or tried to. But here’s the rub: Tesla builds electric everything, from cars to solar tech, which kind of undercuts the anti-oil message, doesn’t it? One reply nailed it, calling them out for missing the mark on a bot that runs on electricity.
Drifting a bit, I wonder if these stunts really shift opinions or just entertain; anyway, back to it–the replies were a mix, some joking about Terminator vibes, others frustrated at the apparent stupidity. Yet, there’s a kernel of truth in the criticism: protesting future tech like this might not help the cause.
People called them boomers with nothing better to do, or useful idiots herded by groups. That stings, but let’s ease off the cynicism–maybe they’re passionate, just misguided. One suggested jail time per dollar of damage, which sounds pragmatic.
In the end, it reminds us how activism can clash with innovation. Optimus represents progress in robotics, powered cleanly. Perhaps dialogue over destruction? That’s my take, plain and simple.
